One of the benefits of living in the Northwest is the easy access to many city parks and the city of the Kirkland has a lot of them. A lot of city parks make up for the lack of natural beauty with large playgrounds. Kirkland’s parks are more simple: lots of trees, grass and often, water. While it is hard to decide which parks are the best, we’ll let Trip Advisor do the hard work. For more information on any of these parks, and more, visit

Marina Park
25 Lake Shore Plaza
Kirkland, WA 98033

One of the more surprising benefits found at this park is wireless internet access which gives parkgoer’s another reason not to come back to the office after lunch. The park provides boat moorage, boat launch, a tour dock, beach and fishing area. There’s plenty of space on the grass to spread out for a picnic or choose a picnic table or one of the many benches facing the water.  Gas-fired barbecues are allowed for burgers and hotdogs. This park is also a good sport for groups with a pavilion available for renting, an amphitheatre and restrooms.

Juanita Bay Park
2201 Market St.

Juanita Bay Park is considered an urban wildlife habitat that sits near Forbes Creek and wetlands. It features interpretive trails as well as guided interpretive tours and boardwalks over the water and marshland. This is also a great spot for picnics and a game of volleyball afterwards.

Juanita Beach Park
9703 NE Juanita Dr.
Kirkland, WA 98034

Lifeguards are on duty from 12:00 noon – 6:00 p.m. for the enclosed swimming area from July 1 through September 2nd at the Juanita Beach Park complete with public dock, changing rooms and outdoor showers. This is a great park for large family events as there are two reserved picnic areas, a fishing area, children’s playground, beach volleyball, lighted tennis courts, horseshoe pits, little league ball fields and lots of green grass.

Houghton Beach Park
5811 Lake Washington Boulevard
Kirkland, WA

This is one of nicest parks in Kirkland and on a hot summer day, it can feel almost tropical with a cool breeze blowing off the lake. The area features a swimming area, a public dock with fishing area and a ramp for non-motorized boats. The open lawn area is filled with picnic tables where gas-fired barbecue grills are allowed. Beach Volleyball is available for first come, first served too.

Bridle Trails State ParkImage title
5300 116th Avenue NE

Bridle Trails State Park is a surprise to anyone who visits there. The 482-acre park features miles of wide, well-marked trails. The tall trees trick you into believing that you are hidden away deep in a forest, but in reality, you’ll be standing close to I-405.

Waverly Beach Park
633 Waverly Way

Waverly Beach Park features a large enclosed swimming area that isn’t too far away from the nearby playground that will cushion children’s fall with soft sand. There is a large lawn area with plenty of picnic tables where gas-fired barbecues are allowed to cook up some nice hotdogs which, let’s face it, is better than cold tuna sandwiches. What makes this park extra unique is its windsurfing area which is always fun to watch.
