Whether it’s the dog days of summer or the dead of winter, ice cream lovers can always find an excuse to pick up a cone. The greater Bothell and Kirkland neighborhoods offers some of the best ice cream shops in the state too. Here are five of the best locations nearby:

Snoqualmie Ice Creamery and Fountain
21106 86th Ave. S.E.
Snohomish, Wa 98296

While you can buy pints of Snoqualimie Ice Cream in many local stores, it’s a lot more fun to get a cone right from the source. This place not only churns out ice cream, but also frozen custard and sorbet. The shop is dedicated to using as many local ingredients as possible. While not all flavors are avaible at all times, they do rotate about 50 ice cream flavors, 15 custards, 9 gelatos and over 45 sorbets. You’ll also find a nice selection of fountain offerings likes floats and sundaes too.

Sirena Gelato Shop
109 Park Ln, Kirkland, WA 98033
(425) 739-9339

Sirena Gelata Shop is almost one of a kind (there is a second shop in Bellingham, WA) where Italian-based gelato is made fresh with Northwest ingredients and a taste that they describe as “old world favorites with a modern American flair.” Fruit-flavored sorets are fat-free and dairy-free while the dairy-based delights are made with items like Turkish organic hazelnuts, premium black cocoa and Thai coconut milk. In addition to just the straight scoop, Sirena serves affogatos, cookie sandwiches, milkshakes, gourmet popsicles and custom cakes for special occasions.

Spotted Cow Coffee Company
15118 Main St Ste 700, Mill Creek, WA 98012
(425) 357-9464

Known for its rich espresso beverage made from their own roasted coffee beans, Spotted Cow now serves up its own ice cream creations as well. They have a large selection of funny-sounding flavors (Minty Manure, Wedded Bliss, Ben and Cherries, Maple Bacon Walnut), flavors based on other treats (Cookie Dough, Butterfinger, Toffee Heath Bar, Minty Gum, Root Beer Float, Black Licorice), sorbets, gelatos and “seazonal” choices for when the mood strikes them. The place has rustic, causal look that is both hip and comfortable. Come for the coffee, stay for the ice cream.

Molly MoonsImage title
16272 Cleveland St
Redmond, WA 98052
(425) 869-7654

More than just an ice cream store, Molly Moons strives to make the world a better place – one scoop at a time. They do this by sourcing up to 90% of their ingredients from the Pacific Northwest, donating about 3,200 scoops of the cream stuff for fundraisers for local non-profits, public schools and food banks and taking sustainablitiy to the next level – everything they use in the shop from spoons to the milkshake cup is 100% compostable. But to honest, that isn’t why people come here. At least, not the main reason. It’s the ice cream pure and simple. You’ll find your favorites like Original Strawberry and Vanilla Bean, but you’ll also find some unique flavors too like Earl Grey, Honey Lavender, Melted Chocolate, Vegan Cherry Chunk. Lemon Blueberry Cheesecake and others.

Ben and Jerry’s
176 Lake St S
Kirkland, WA 98033
(425) 576-1609

Sure, Ben and Jerry’s is chain store, but you can’t beat the ice cream this shop is walking distance from Kirkland’s Marina Park which offers a great view and restful place to savor your cool treat. Ben & Jerry’s offers a wide assortment of flavors in the form of cones, sundaes, smoothies and shakes.
